Groundwater Level Data and Hydrographs

Monthly groundwater level data for 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 can be presented for the 28 index wells and boreholes listed below - the monitoring sites are shown on the map of principal aquifers and representative boreholes.

To display hydrographs select individual sites from the list of index wells. The wells and boreholes are listed in aquifer groupings; details of the numbering convention used appear in the Register of Selected Groundwater Observation Wells.

Note: Post-1999 groundwater level hydrographs and commentaries on aquifer storage and recharge patterns are accessible through Water Watch. For further details regarding the availability of groundwater level data please contact hydroenq@bgs.ac.uk.

About the Data - Groundwater Levels provides general background information concerning groundwater resources in the UK and guidance regarding the accuracy of groundwater level measurement. The appropriate measuring authority should be contacted where a detailed appraisal of the hydrometric performance of individual wells and boreholes is required.
