Station Description

Well sited station on a natural section of an upland gravel bed river draining steep slopes. As the site is adjacent to a picnic area the gravel bar low flow control is susceptible to rearrangement by children. Catchment response is damped by two large natural storage lochs.

Catchment Description

Catchment rising up to ~1150m; rugged topography. Catchment is underlain by metamorphic rocks with igneous intrusions; approx. 50% is overlain by superficial deposits. Land use mostly open heather moorland; some forest.
