Station Description

Flat V weir, 7m wide, 1:10 cross-slope. All but highest flows contained. Weir becomes non-modular before QMED, introducing significant uncertainty at high flows. Nov 2000 was undoubtedly an exceptional event, but the magnitude may be suspect. EA hold naturalised flows for 1984-95. Pumped minewater discharge significant prior to 1994 (now ceased).

Catchment Description

Geology comprises shales, s'sts and l'sts. Low-lying, predominantly arable catchment with isolated built-up areas.

Factors Affecting Runoff

Runoff increased by effluent returns.
Runoff reduced by industrial/agricultural abstraction.
